Pride Builders

Do you know what they do?

Middle School Pride Builders is a group of students and staff who work together to both improve our school and celebrate its successes as well as to reach out to others in need. Every student and school employee is actually a Middle School Pride Builder. However, each homeroom elects one student to attend weekly meetings for a semester’s time to carry information back to their homerooms.

Pride Builders achieve their goals in part by fundraising.  The Penny Wars that pop up every now and then are our Pride Builders at work.  Each Penny War has a specific cause in mind and all the homerooms compete to see who can bring in the most pennies.  These pennies add up to lots of dollars that are sent out to serve our community both near and far.  The Elementary and Middle School landscaping has benefited as well as those affected by the Asian Tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

In addition to those good works, the Pride Builders run a very successful canned food drive every year just before Christmas.  The goal is to collect at least 3,200 cans each and every year for the Shenandoah Food Pantry.  This is a much appreciated boost for the Food Pantry at their busiest time of year and gives local families in need a little extra support.
